Mrs. Annie Deegan, widow of Thomas Deegan, died last night at
the home of her sister, Mrs Johanna Lambert, 220 Haffards
Street. She was the daughter of the late Timothy and Ellen
Sullivan and had lived in this city the greater part of her
life. For many years she was a member of St. Mary's parish,
but for some time had been a communicant of the Immaculate
Conception Parish and was a member of the Rosary cofraternity
and other modalities and societies in that parish. She had many
friends throughout the community, by whom she was held in high
regard. She leaves four sisters, Mrs. Catherine Sullivan, Mrs
Josephine Lambert, Mrs. Julia Walsh and Mrs. John Lynch, the
latter in Newport. The funeral will be held from the home of
her sister, Mrs. Lambert, Friday morning followed by services
in the Church of the Immaculated Conception, where a high mass
of requiem will be celebrated at 9.

The Funeral of Mrs. Annie Deegan, widow of Thomas Deegan was
held today from the home of Mrs. Josephine Lambert, 220 Haffards
St, followed by services in the Immaculate Conception Church
where a high mass of requiem was celebrated by Rev. George H.
Flanagan. The rosary confraternity was represented by Mrs. John
Sullivan, Mrs James Mullins, Mrs Thomas Harrington, Mrs William
Coberty, Mrs. John Lynch, Mrs. Thomas Whelan, Mrs Alice Mathews,
Mrs Joseph Noble. There were many beautiful floral tributes.
Interment was in the family lot in St. Patricks cemetery. The
bearers were John Holland, William, Patrick and John Sullivan,
John Lynch and Adam Brooks.

grown up family survives him and in this bereavement they have
the sincere sympathy of many friends"

Ellen (Welch) Brightman, 85 of our Lady's Haven formerly of 99
David St., New Bedford died yesterday at St. Lukes Hospital
after a brief illness. She was the widow of Edwin Brightman.

Born in Fall River, she lived in this area many years and was a
communicant of St. James Church.

She is survived by two sisters, Mary Brightman of New Bedford
and Margaret Conaty of Fall River, three grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by the Schick Racine Funeral Home, 169 County
St, New Bedford.

"Margaret T. (Welch) Conaty, 88, of 170 Oak Grove Ave., formerly
of Highland Heights, widow of

Austin L. Conaty Sr., died Tuesday after a long illness.

Born in New Britian, Conn., daughter of the late John Welch and
the late Julia (Sullivan) Welch, she was a resident of this city
for over 60 years.

Before moving here, she had worked for a short time as a proof
reader for the 'New Britian Herald' Before her retirement over
25 years ago, she had worked at the former J.J. Stevens Mill
here.

She was a member of Holy Rosary Parish and a former member of SS
Peter and Paul Parish.

She leaves two sons, Austin L. Conaty Jr of Brockton and Joseph
P. Conaty of Silver Springs, Md., six grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.

The Jeffrey E. Sullivan Funeral Home, 550 Locust St., is in
charge of arrangements.

New Bedford, Mary (Welch) Brightman, 85, of 73 Clara St, died
Friday after a brief illness. She was the wife of Emerson M.
Brightman.

She died at St. Lukes Hospital.

She was born in New Britain, Conn, and lived in New Bedford for
63 years. She was a communicant of St. Hedwigs Church and was
formerly employed as a speeder tender for the Kilburn Mill until
her retirement.

Survivors include her widower; three sons, John of West Wareham,
Emerson and Thomas both of New Bedford; a daughte, Helen
Lockwood of New Bedford; a sister, Margarite Conaty of Fall
River; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by the Latham Funeral Home, 823 Brock Ave.
