      RI, November 4, 2003, Michael W. "Bill" Finn, husband of the
      late Eleanor T. (Sheekey) Finn. Residence 115 Carroll Avenue,
      Newport. Donations may be made in his memory to the Ancient
      Order of Hibernians Building Fund, 2 Wellington Avenue, Newport,
      RI 02840, or to the Visiting Nurse Health Services of Newport
      and Bristol Counties, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
      [Providence RI Journal, Wednesday 5 Nov 2003] Newport - Michael
      W. "Bill" Finn, 83, of 115 Carroll Ave., the former owner and
      operator of the former Finn's Grocery Stores, died Tuesday at
      Newport Hospital. He was the husband of the late Eleanor T.
      (Sheekey) Finn. Born in Newport on Dec. 8, 1919, he was a son of
      the late Thomas J. and Margaret (Sullivan) Finn. He also owned
      and operated the grocery stores on Carroll Avenue and Old Fort
      Road during the 1950s and 1960s. He then worked for the U.S.
      Postal Service before retiring in 1982. In retirement, he had
      operated a furniture-refinishing service for many years. He was
      a 1939 graduate of De LaSalle Academy, where he played football.
      Mr. Finn was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a
      torpedoman on the Bergall and the Plunger in the Submarine
      Service in the Pacific. He was a member of the U.S. Submarine
      Veterans of World War II. He was a lifelong member of the
      Ancient Order of Hibernians and a parishioner of St. Augustin
      Church. He was an original stockholder of Gooseberry Beach. He
      leaves four sons, Thomas, Peter, Michael and Daniel Finn, all of
      Newport; four daughters, Ann Finn of Middletown, Susan Finn of
      Jamestown, Mary Finn-Cox of Long Island, N.Y., and Kathleen Finn
      of Newport; a brother, Matthew Finn of Newport; and 11
      grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren. He was the brother of
      the late Thomas J., Cornelius, John, William and Margaret Finn.
      The funeral will be held tomorrow at 9 a.m. from O'Neill-Hayes
      Funeral Home, 465 Spring St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at
      10 in St. Augustin Church, Carroll Avenue. Burial will be
      private.
